Strip the judge bare. Again the dissection of the one who appraises (cf. 9.18, 9.27): what are their TERMruling principles, on what are they intent, for what do they love and honour? "Picture their little souls laid bare" (γυμνὰ τὰ ψυχάρια). The bared ἡγεμονικόν of the detractor turns out petty and confused — its verdict carries no weight.

"What conceit." The coda — DOGMAὅση οἴησις: "what self-delusion" in their supposing that they "harm by blame or help by praise." Neither: the praise and blame of such people do not touch your good (which lies in your own action, not in their opinion). The governing discipline is assent.
