Three tiers of the flux. A single line sets three levels of TERMchange (μεταβολή) side by side: all that exists, you yourself, the whole cosmos. Of yourself it says more: "in ceaseless alteration (ἀλλοίωσις) and, in part, in destruction (φθορά)." You neither "stand still" nor "decay only at the end" — you are diminishing continuously, already now (cf. EXERCISEthe pre-death of reason while the body lives, 03-01).
Therapy by physics. The same leitmotif as at 02-03, 06-15 (the river of time), 07-18 (nothing comes to be without μεταβολή): my "destruction" is not a falling out of the order but its very form (EXERCISEthe contemplation of nature dissolves the fear). If the cosmos too is in the same flux, then to murmur at my own mutability is to murmur at the constitution of the whole. The governing discipline is desire.
